A comprehensive review by Tusla, the Republic of Ireland's child welfare agency, concluded that the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Kyran Durnin were unforeseeable.
The agency stated that based on available knowledge, what happened to the missing schoolboy could not have been anticipated. Kyran was last seen in June 2022 when he was six years old.
Gardaí, the Irish police, launched a murder investigation in October 2024, treating Kyran as missing and presumed dead. The missing boy was last seen at his home in Drogheda, County Louth.
