- Three men were attacked and killed while sleeping in a makeshift settlement.
- Approximately 250 sheep were stolen during the violent incident.
In a significant judicial development, an additional district and sessions judge in Kurukshetra has handed down life sentences to nine individuals. The convictions stem from a brutal incident in 2018 that resulted in the murders of three men and the theft of around 250 sheep.
The court heard that the victims, who resided in a temporary settlement, were asleep when the accused attacked them. The men were tied up, beaten, and ultimately killed before their bodies were hidden. The attackers then proceeded to steal the flock of sheep.
Following the theft, the perpetrators attempted to move the stolen animals, but their plan was violently disrupted near the Pindarsi railway station. As they attempted to cross the tracks, an oncoming train caused several sheep and goats to be killed and others injured. The accused subsequently abandoned the surviving livestock and escaped with a truck.
The arrests were made by police on May 30, 2018, leading to the nine individuals being charged and subsequently convicted in connection with the crime.
