On October 14, a law professor at Kurukshetra University (KU) was assaulted and threatened after he intervened in a roadside incident. While offering help to those who fell from the scooter, he observed two youths recording videos of the injured on their mobile phones.
When the professor attempted to stop the filming, the youths allegedly attacked him and issued death threats. Other bystanders intervened to separate the parties. Following a complaint lodged by the professor, police registered a case.
As a result of the investigation, authorities arrested three individuals on Saturday, October 17, and placed a minor into observation. The arrested individuals are from Gharadsi village, Narwana, and Kaithal district. Meanwhile, KU teachers and students protested on Friday, expressing concern over the delay in case registration and arrests.
University officials, including the registrar and DSP, met with protestors, assuring them of prompt action against those responsible for assaulting the professor.
