Kozhikode City police apprehended 58 individuals and registered 57 narcotics cases during a comprehensive sweep on Saturday, July 11, 2026. This operation was a key part of 'Operation Toofan,' the Kerala police's sustained initiative against drug enforcement.
The intensive drive, which spanned from early Saturday into Sunday morning, involved targeted searches across numerous locations within Kozhikode City's jurisdiction. These raids included inter-State tourist buses, migrant worker accommodations, hotels, lodges, and homestays. Police also reinforced security at major transit points like the KSRTC bus station, mofussil bus stand, and the railway station.
Data released on Sunday revealed the broader impact of the anti-drug operation since its June 1, 2026 inception. In the preceding six weeks, Kozhikode City police initiated 738 cases and arrested 759 people for drug trafficking offenses. Seizures included substantial amounts of various drugs, such as 342.22 grams of MDMA, alongside ganja plants destroyed at four sites.
