Man Arrested for Abetting Suicide After Threatening Woman

A 34-year-old man, Arun Kumar, has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody on charges of abetment to suicide. This follows the death of a 29-year-old woman whose body was discovered hanging in her rented house near Adoor on Monday, July 14, 2026.
Neighbors alerted authorities after finding the woman deceased and noticing bloodstains on her and Kumar, who was present in the house. Initial investigations revealed that Kumar had allegedly recorded private videos of the woman and threatened to post them online. He had also pressured her to marry him and convert her religion, which she resisted, leading to harassment.
Based on these findings, police reclassified the case from unnatural death to abetment to suicide. Evidence was collected from the scene by a forensic team, and a postmortem was conducted at the Kottayam Government Medical College Hospital.
