A neurologist is continuing his testimony today at the ongoing coroner's inquest into the death of Regis Korchinski-Paquet. Dr. Julien Hébert, examining Korchinski-Paquet's medical records, stated that in the years prior to her death, she showed signs of postictal delirium or psychosis following seizures.
Korchinski-Paquet had a documented history of epilepsy with seizures that often resulted in confusion, aggressive behavior, and temporary amnesia. She experienced two seizures on the morning of the day she died. Her fall from a Toronto balcony occurred more than six years ago, while police were present in her home.
The inquest, which was announced earlier this year, is scheduled to last 14 days and anticipates hearing from 13 witnesses. Among those expected to testify are Korchinski-Paquet's parents, brother, and five of the six police officers who attended the scene.
