A brazen daylight shooting on a residential building's rooftop in Baghajatin, Kolkata, resulted in the death of a 30-year-old man and critically injured his 35-year-old friend. The incident occurred around 1 am on Thursday when six unknown assailants opened fire during a rooftop gathering.
Authorities suspect the shooting was a consequence of a dispute over gambling profits in the Pachpota area of Narendrapur. The primary target was believed to be Jeet Mukherjee, a building material supplier, with Rahul Dey, the deceased, reportedly trying to protect him.
Within six hours of the incident, police arrested four suspects identified as residents of Narendrapur and Vidyasagar Colony. Forensic teams collected evidence from the scene, including blood samples and an empty cartridge. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining individuals involved.
