Four individuals were arrested on Thursday afternoon following an assault on a police officer and his associate in Bhowanipore, Kolkata. The incident unfolded around 2:30 pm when Sub-Inspector Pravash Mazumder and home guard Md. Nurjalal were investigating an illegal construction site on Girish Mukherjee Road. The investigation was prompted by a complaint about unauthorized construction and illegal terrace occupation.

The group allegedly physically assaulted SI Mazumder and manhandled home guard Nurjalal when he attempted to intervene.

They face charges related to deterring public servants from their duty and joint criminal liability, in addition to charges for illegal construction.
