A man identified as Rajoshree Roychowdhury, 30, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his father, Ranjan Roychowdhury, 59. The crime reportedly occurred after an argument regarding funds for a vacation. The accused, an engineering graduate, is alleged to have attacked his father with a gym instrument, causing fatal injuries. This incident is believed to have taken place before June 20.
The accused allegedly kept his father's body at their residence for three days. He then placed the body in a travel bag and hired a vehicle to dispose of it at a garbage site in Moylapota. The highly decomposed remains were discovered on the night of June 22, with identification proving difficult initially.
Local residents provided a photograph to the police, suspecting the deceased was Ranjan Roychowdhury, a businessman who frequently traveled for work. Neighbors had reported a foul odor and the victim's prolonged absence. The accused had allegedly told neighbors his father was in Dubai.
Investigators found bloodstains and exercise instruments at the residence, further cementing their suspicions. CCTV footage and interviews with the hired driver aided in tracing the vehicle and led to Gopal's arrest on July 3. He reportedly confessed to the murder during interrogation.
