Kolkata Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the honor killing of his 22-year-old sister. The incident occurred approximately two months ago in the Narkeldanga area of Kolkata. The accused, Sanjit Shaw, reportedly confessed to strangling his sister, Pushpa Kumari.
Shaw explained that his sister was involved in a relationship that the family opposed. Despite being sent to Kolkata to live with her father, she continued to contact her boyfriend. Shaw stated that he could not accept this behavior and chose to murder her to preserve the family's honor. After the crime, he fled and has been evading authorities in various cities, including Mumbai.
The victim was discovered unconscious in her home and later declared dead at a hospital. A post-mortem examination confirmed that she died from strangulation.
