- Eight mandals were booked for violating norms during a recent festival.
- Vehicles and sound systems were seized as action against the violations.
In Kolhapur, Superintendent of Police Neelotpal has urged Ganesh mandals to opt for traditional musical instruments over high-decibel sound systems for upcoming celebrations. This appeal follows recent enforcement actions against eight mandals in Bahireshwar village for violating norms during the Shri Krishna Janmashtami yatra.
Karvir police seized eight tractors, sound systems, and tempos connected to the alleged violations. Cases were registered against the presidents of the involved mandals, sound system operators, and vehicle owners. These groups had secured permission but reportedly flouted conditions related to noise levels and public nuisance.
Inspector Ravindra Kalamkar confirmed that notices were issued under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, but directions were ignored. The police aim to ensure peaceful and orderly Ganeshotsav celebrations by strictly enforcing noise and public-order regulations, encouraging devotion while adhering to the law.
