Police in Fort Kochi have arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with a burglary at St. Francis Church LP School. The accused, Shaheer of Kalvathy, allegedly stole centuries-old school records, registers, toys, and books. These historical documents, preserving details of generations of students, are considered part of one of Kerala's oldest educational institutions.
School authorities discovered the break-in on Thursday when they arrived to prepare for the new academic year. They found the main door damaged and office cupboards ransacked. The primary motive, according to police, was to sell the stolen documents as scrap metal. Most of the recovered items were found at the accused's home, though a mixer grinder is still missing. The total value of stolen items was estimated at around ₹20,000. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody.
