13 Dec
Summary
- Villagers protested student's death, demanding investigation and compensation.
- Family alleged foul play, citing ligature marks and lack of post-mortem.
- Police transferred the case to Bhubaneswar for further inquiry.

Tension gripped the Keonjhar collectorate as villagers, including the family of a 14-year-old tribal student, protested his death at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in Bhubaneswar. They placed the boy's body outside the collectorate, demanding a thorough investigation and Rs 1 crore in compensation.
The family alleged foul play, refuting the institute's claim of a fall. The father reported receiving a call about a broken leg, only to find his son dead at the hospital. He claimed the body was returned without a post-mortem and questioned the absence of medical documents.
Family members observed ligature marks on the deceased's neck and hands, intensifying suspicions. Based on the father's complaint, police registered an FIR and transferred the case to Bhubaneswar. The Keonjhar administration provided Rs 20,000 assistance to the family.
