Kishtwar Rape Case: Prime Accused's Home Raided

As part of an ongoing investigation, the Crime Branch on Wednesday raided the Kishtwar residence of Khalid Hussain Sheikh, the prime accused in the rape and death of a 14-year-old tribal girl. The raid also extended to the home of his brother, Tariq Hussain, in the Gurinal area of Chatroo, aiming to gather crucial evidence.
Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. These include the prime accused Sheikh, his brothers Tariq Hussain and Riaz Hussain, Mohammad Isaaq, staff nurse Sonika Parihar, and sanitation workers Farooq Ahmed and Zarina Begum. Another teacher, Jalil Ahmed, reportedly persuaded the victim's father to send her to the Gurinal government middle school.
In a related development, Zarina Begum, a sanitation worker at the district hospital Kishtwar, has had her services terminated effective immediately following her arrest on August 30. Officials cited the extremely grave nature of the alleged offences as incompatible with public service.
