Rebecca Grossman, currently serving a 15-year-to-life sentence for the 2020 murder of two young brothers, Jacob and Mark Iskander, sent an appalling letter to their mother, Nancy Iskander. The letter, written from the California Institution for Women, requested a prison visit and, astonishingly, claimed victimhood on Grossman's part. Nancy Iskander expressed her profound shock and grief, stating she would endure any prison sentence if it meant her sons could live again.
Grossman was convicted of two counts of second-degree murder for striking and killing the brothers with her Mercedes while racing her former lover, Scott Erickson. Evidence presented in court indicated Grossman was driving at speeds up to 81 mph in a 45 mph zone at the time of the fatal incident. Despite her conviction and the rejection of her appeal, Grossman has not accepted responsibility and continues to present herself as wronged.
The Iskander family has initiated a civil wrongful death lawsuit against Grossman and Erickson. Jury selection for this high-profile civil trial began recently, with the proceedings expected to last approximately two months. Erickson, who faced a misdemeanor reckless driving charge that was dismissed, has distanced himself from Grossman and has declared her the sole cause of the fatal collision.
