Adam David Wright, 39, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 24 years for the murder of his 77-year-old grandmother-in-law, June Henty. The vicious attack occurred in the early hours of December 23, 2023, at Henty's home in Wickham. Wright inflicted over 100 lacerations on the victim.
Henty suffered severe injuries, including hemorrhages and a brain bleed, and spent six months in intensive care. She ultimately passed away on June 14, 2024, from the delayed effects of the sharp force trauma. Post-mortem examinations confirmed the cause of death.
Wright was arrested on the same day of the assault after Henty was able to identify him to authorities. He has remained in custody since his arrest, facing charges related to the attempted murder which later became a murder charge.
