In Khargone, a court has sentenced the main perpetrator in the abduction and rape of a minor girl to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. The conviction came after a fast-track trial that concluded within 15 months. The court also sentenced two other individuals, including a hotel owner, to five years of rigorous imprisonment each for their roles in assisting the main accused.
The victim, aged 12 and in Class 7 at the time, was lured by the main accused, Aman, through social media platforms. The grooming occurred during the Covid lockdown when the girl's mother had provided her with a mobile phone. Aman convinced her to accompany him to Indore for an outing.
Her father reported her missing on June 13, 2025, after she left home stating she was visiting a friend. Investigations revealed Aman, accompanied by Harish and a driver named Ajay, took the girl to Indore in a pickup vehicle. Hotel owner Purushottam arranged their accommodation, where Aman allegedly raped her.
The prosecution further stated that Aman raped the girl a second time the following day at another location. Police filed a chargesheet against Aman, Purushottam, and Harish. The driver, Ajay, remains absconding.
