Accused in Liquor Contractor's Killing Nabbed While Fleeing to Dubai

On October 12, 2025, the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) arrested a key accused in the murder of liquor contractor Shantanu. Harneet Bhatia, a 23-year-old BA student, was apprehended at the Mumbai airport while attempting to flee to Dubai, just a day after being detained by the authorities.
The arrest comes four months after Shantanu, a liquor contractor from Mattan village in Jhajjar district, was shot dead on the evening of June 13, 2021, by two men, including the state's wanted gangster Romil Vohra, at Meena Market in Shahabad. Bhatia, who is from Uncha Chandana village in Yamunanagar, had provided two 32-bore pistols and a vehicle used in the crime to Vohra, following the instructions of UK-based gangster Badal.
On June 24, 2021, the Haryana STF, in collaboration with the Delhi Police's special cell, had eliminated Vohra after an exchange of fire on the Delhi-Gurgaon-Faridabad route. Vohra, who had a bounty of Rs 3 lakh on his head, was wanted in several high-profile criminal cases, including the triple murder case of Yamunanagar and other targeted killings.
Haryana Police have so far arrested over 10 criminals in the Shantanu murder case, which was registered at the Shahabad-Markanda police station on June 14, 2021, under sections of the BNS and Arms Act. The accused played active roles in the murder conspiracy, recce, shooting, and logistical and financial support.
