A shocking case has emerged in Kerala's Alappuzha district, where a 13-year-old girl and three teenage boys are in custody over the alleged murder of her 67-year-old grandfather. Police report the girl claimed her grandfather subjected her to "bad touch" and instructed her boyfriend and his friends to kill him.
The group, from Kollam, allegedly planned to rob the house and kill the elderly man, with the act described as executed in a "professional manner, similar to what is seen in films." The girl reportedly watched the killing via video call. Motives included stealing 4.5 sovereigns of gold ornaments and avenging restrictions on the girl's mobile phone usage and friendships.
Two of the boys allegedly entered the house through a rear ventilator, tying up the victim, beating him, and smothering him. The autopsy confirmed smothering as the cause of death. Stolen gold was recovered, with one ring already sold. The accused are being produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
Investigators uncovered contradictions in the girl's statements, with phone records and cyber cell tracing leading to the accused within 24 hours. Police attributed the crime to cinematic influence and family issues, including the girl's reported feelings of parental neglect.
