Heroin, Ganja Seized in Kerala Busts

In Aluva, Ernakulam rural police apprehended two individuals from Assam, Wahidul Islam (30) and Nizamuddin (24), seizing 36g of heroin. The illicit substance was found concealed within soap-box containers in their luggage. They were apprehended at Chalakka while traveling by autorickshaw to Perumbavoor, having arrived by train from Assam.
Authorities indicated the accused planned to sell the heroin and return to Assam the same day, with each box allegedly fetching Rs 1.2 lakh. The drug was reportedly intended to be repackaged and distributed among migrant workers. Investigations are ongoing to identify buyers.
Separately, Aluva Police arrested Muhammad Azad (45) in connection with a seizure of 25kg of ganja. Azad had allegedly acted as a lookout for a vehicle transporting the contraband from Odisha. He is also accused of funding the ganja's procurement.
In a third case, Kunnathunad Police arrested Shahin Safeer (30) for allegedly renting a car under the pretense of operating an online taxi and subsequently selling it for Rs 3.5 lakh. The car's rightful owner had recovered the vehicle before the buyer filed a complaint.
