Thiruvananthapuram city crime branch has arrested Raveendran Nair, 60, the former caretaker of the Koodathil family, for the 2017 murder of Jayamadhavan Nair, the family's last heir. The arrest marks a major development in a case that remained unresolved for years, amid suspicions surrounding seven family deaths between 1991 and 2017.
Police have gathered scientific and circumstantial evidence, including brain mapping, indicating Nair allegedly murdered Jayamadhavan by striking his head against a wall to gain control of family assets. Two other individuals have been taken into custody for assisting in the crime.
The investigation, now led by the district crime branch, will continue to explore Raveendran Nair's potential involvement in the other suspicious deaths. He faces charges under BNS Section 103 for murder and has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
