A peculiar incident unfolded in Karnataka's Chikkaballapur, where a 65-year-old woman was arrested after being caught on CCTV performing what appeared to be a black magic ritual within a courtroom. The accused, identified as Manjula, allegedly entered the premises and sprinkled consecrated white mustard seeds on the dais of the 1st Additional Senior Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate First Class.
This unusual act came to light when court CCTV footage revealed the ritual. Following a complaint from the Chief Administrative Officer, police registered a case against Manjula under the Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Act, 2017. Investigators suspect the ritual was an attempt to influence a civil case.
Manjula was subsequently produced before a court and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. Authorities are now thoroughly investigating the circumstances, the exact motive, and any potential accomplices. The 2017 Act prohibits exploitative and harmful practices, with provisions for legal action.
