A 35-year-old woman was discovered deceased in the Ishan river, within the Araul police station area of Kanpur, on Monday night. She had been living at her parental home for the past five years following a domestic dispute with her husband. The woman reportedly left her residence without informing her family on Monday.
When she failed to return, her family initiated a search. Their concern grew upon finding her dupatta and slippers near the riverbank. This discovery prompted them to alert the police.
Authorities and family members conducted a search of the Ishan river. Her body was eventually found about 500 meters from where her personal items were recovered. The body has been taken into custody for a postmortem examination.
Family members confirmed that divorce proceedings between the woman and her husband were in progress. The Araul police have stated that the matter is under investigation. Further legal actions will be determined based on the results of the postmortem and any complaint filed by the family.
