Rajasthan Craftsman Claims Kanpur Silver Bag

A significant quantity of silver, weighing 10 kg and valued at approximately ₹24 lakh, was discovered by police in Kanpur. The unclaimed bag and accompanying cartons were found near Geeta Temple on Sunday. The contents included nine silver bars, a floor-mopping machine, and other items.
Later, an advocate appeared at the Pheelkhana police station, asserting that the silver belonged to a craftsman from Rajasthan. The advocate explained that the craftsman regularly transports silver from Kanpur to Rajasthan for jewelry production and then delivers it to customers. He stated that on Friday, during transit from Kanpur to Rajasthan with seven bags, one bag and two cartons were mistakenly left behind near Geeta Temple while loading goods into a car.
Pheelkhana inspector Abhay Kumar Singh confirmed that the claimant has been requested to provide bills and other supporting documentation for the silver. The craftsman is scheduled to present these documents to ACP Kotwali Amit Kumar Pandey on Monday. Authorities will proceed with further action only after the documents are verified.
