Police in Kanpur are intensifying their investigation into the September 5 murder of 63-year-old medicine trader Vineet Minocha. Investigators are preparing a detailed list of questions for the victim's daughter-in-law, Shalu, and son, Subrat, intending to cross-examine their accounts. Shalu is alleged to have masterminded the murder, with Vishal and Raj identified as the executioners.
Subrat's role has become a focal point after investigators discovered his extensive contact with Vishal, a former servant and alleged contract killer. Police found that Subrat and Vishal had spoken over 300 times in the three months preceding the murder, with numerous calls exchanged shortly before Vineet was killed.
Further complicating the case, police suspect Subrat attempted to delete call history from his phone after the incident. Meanwhile, a court hearing on September 22 was adjourned, as the defense requested Shalu's fresh statement be recorded before addressing the police custody remand plea. Shalu claims the investigating officer altered her original statement.
