30 Mar
Summary
- Three family members arrested in connection with the Gwaltoli murder.
- Police outpost incharge suspended for negligence in the case.
- Victim allegedly attacked multiple times by assailants at his home.
In Kanpur, three individuals were arrested on Monday in connection with the fatal assault of a 70-year-old man in the Gwaltoli area. The arrested suspects include Sahil, his mother Radha Devi, and his sister Komal Pal.
The incident reportedly began when Sahil allegedly harassed the victim's younger daughter, who lives with her elderly father, mother, and married sister. Despite the father's paralysis and the mother's domestic help work, the family faced repeated harassment.
Following an initial confrontation on Saturday evening where Sahil allegedly forced his way into the home and attacked the man, a police complaint was lodged. However, it is claimed no immediate action was taken.
On Sunday afternoon, Sahil, along with his sister Komal and mother Radha, allegedly returned and assaulted the victim. During this altercation, Karan, believed to be Sahil's brother, reportedly struck the elderly man multiple times with an iron cooking pan, resulting in a fatal head injury.
Neighbors attempted to intervene, but the assailants fled. The victim was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Investigations are ongoing, and the Khalasi Line outpost incharge, Shubham, has been suspended for alleged negligence.
