Kanpur Court Sentences Eight to 10 Years for Fatal Assault

In Kanpur, a court delivered a significant verdict on Wednesday, convicting eight individuals in connection with a violent incident. The Additional Sessions Judge, Subhash Singh, sentenced the accused to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment each under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
A fine of Rs 5,000 was also imposed on each of the eight convicts. The conviction follows a complaint filed by Vinod Kumar of Nawabganj locality. Kumar alleged that on June 17, 2016, miscreants attacked his family at their home.
Authorities stated that the motive behind the brutal assault was a property dispute. The victims were reportedly thrashed by the assailants who were armed with an axe and lathis, leading to the severe charges and subsequent sentencing.
