Kanpur Cop Suspended for Aiding Notorious Land Grabber
14 Oct
Summary
- Inspector KK Mishra suspended for accepting ₹2 lakh monthly from land mafia Gajendra Singh Negi
- Mishra failed to arrest Negi despite several FIRs and cases against him
- Victims allege Negi duped them by selling flats and shops multiple times

On October 14, 2025, the Kanpur police took action against a corrupt officer and a notorious land grabber in the city. Inspector KK Mishra, who was serving as the Rawatpur police station in-charge, was suspended by DCP West Dinesh Tripathi for his alleged ties to land mafia Gajendra Singh Negi.
Mishra is accused of accepting ₹2 lakh in monthly bribes from Negi and acting on his directions. Several audio recordings of their conversations were obtained by senior officials, confirming the nexus between the two. Despite multiple FIRs and cases, including gangster charges, being filed against Negi, Mishra made no efforts to arrest him.
The victims alleged that Negi, posing as a builder, had duped them by showing various flats and shops and then embezzling crores of rupees without giving them possession. Negi reportedly sold each property six to eight times. Under pressure from the then police commissioner and DCP West, Mishra had registered reports against Negi but did not take any action to apprehend him.
Ultimately, the responsibility of arresting the land mafia was handed over to the Crime Branch, which nabbed Negi on September 20, 2025. However, the suspended inspector Mishra had allegedly made every effort to save Negi from arrest. DCP Tripathi confirmed that the audio recordings of Mishra's conversations with Negi were used as evidence to suspend the corrupt officer.
