Kannada TV Star Accused of Blackmail and Privacy Breach

As of October 25th, 2025, Kannada television actor Asha Jois is embroiled in a legal controversy after being accused of blackmailing a 61-year-old woman. According to the complaint filed with the Tilak Nagar Police in Bengaluru, Jois allegedly stole the woman's personal data, including private videos and photographs, and used this material to demand ₹2 crore from her.

The complainant, identified as Parvati, claims that she met Jois around three years ago, during which time the actor introduced herself as a member of the Shringeri Sharada Peeth's Jois family and a television personality. Parvati alleges that Jois tried to convince her to participate in a blackmail plan targeting Parvati's husband's employer, seeking ₹2 crore through intimidation. When Parvati refused to cooperate, Jois allegedly misused her private videos by sharing them with others, thereby defaming her and causing severe mental distress.

The police have registered an FIR under sections related to blackmail, extortion, data theft, and invasion of privacy. Cyber-forensic experts have been brought in to trace the source and distribution of the alleged leaked content, and the investigation is ongoing. As of now, Asha Jois has not issued any public response regarding the allegations, but she may soon be called in for questioning.
