In a recent incident, a 36-year-old Kannada actress has filed a sexual harassment and stalking case against her former partner, 43-year-old businessman and film producer Aravind Venkatesh Reddy. According to the actress, after she ended the relationship in 2023, Aravind began stalking her, sending threats, morphing photos, and sending men to her parents' home.
The actress' complaint under relevant IPC sections led to Aravind's arrest on Saturday by the Govindaraja Nagar police. However, he was released on bail the same day, and the investigation is ongoing.
Speaking to the media, the actress, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she has faced harassment online since it became public that she was the complainant. In a social media post, she expressed her gratitude for the support she has received from the police, the law, the media, and many kind people, but also noted that there are those who have chosen to speak with cruelty.
The actress emphasized that having different opinions is normal, but attacking someone with hateful, abusive, or insensitive comments is unacceptable. She stated that public figures are often expected to stay strong, but they are human too, and these comments affect their mental and emotional wellbeing. The actress simply asked for basic humanity and kindness, as even a small amount of empathy can make a huge difference to someone going through a difficult time.
