A six-month-old infant reported kidnapped outside Kalyan railway station on July 14 was found safe, with police revealing the incident was a fabrication. The child's mother, Roshani Suraj Sahoo, a resident of Vapi, initially claimed her son, Aryan, was abducted while she slept. Police launched a widespread search, but inconsistencies in her account quickly emerged.
CCTV footage revealed Roshani arrived from Varanasi alone, not carrying a baby, and her statements continually changed. Under sustained interrogation, she admitted the kidnapping story was false. She confessed to leaving Aryan with her parents in Varanasi before traveling to Kalyan, concocting the abduction narrative to avoid returning to her husband.
Further inquiries indicated Roshani has another child from a previous marriage living with her parents. A police team traveled to Varanasi to retrieve the infant. Investigations are ongoing to determine if legal action will be taken against Roshani for filing a false kidnapping complaint.
