Prosecutor Caught Red-Handed Taking Bribe and Gifts

In Kalaburagi, an assistant public prosecutor (APP) from the 5th JMFC Court, Santosh Kumar Lokande, was apprehended by Lokayukta officials on Friday. He was caught in a sting operation near the court complex while allegedly accepting a bribe.
The investigation was initiated following a complaint by Rahul, a Hyderabad resident. Lokande reportedly demanded Rs 10,000 in cash along with a considerable quantity of expensive gifts to facilitate a compromise petition for Rahul's court case. The demanded items included nine sarees, four shirts, four pairs of branded jeans, a pair of shoes, four women's outfits, and six pairs of women's sandals.
Lokayukta inspector Arun Kumar and his team successfully laid a trap, apprehending Lokande as he allegedly received the Rs 10,000 cash from the complainant. Further investigations are currently underway by the authorities.
