Kalaburagi Police Target Drug Users, Not Just Sellers

Kalaburagi police are escalating their crackdown on narcotics, broadening legal action to include drug users alongside dealers. This initiative is part of a robust campaign to eradicate drug abuse in the region. Over the past three years, more than 700 individuals have been prosecuted for narcotics-related offenses, signaling a zero-tolerance approach.

The police department has introduced 'Operation RISE' (Refuse, Inform, Support and Eliminate) and the 'Beda Bro' awareness campaign. These efforts aim to make Karnataka, and Kalaburagi specifically, free from the menace of narcotic drugs. Public and community involvement is deemed crucial, with appeals for educational institutions and citizens to support the police in creating a drug-free society.

Concerns were also raised regarding 'digital toxicity,' including excessive use of mobile phones, social media, and OTT platforms. Experts highlighted that such digital overdependence negatively impacts students' academic performance. The strategy to combat drug abuse involves prevention, detection, and rehabilitation, with a call for young people to act as ambassadors for a drug-free future and avoid harmful substances.
