Summary

- Convicted of first-degree murder, sentenced to 90 years.

Kaitlin Armstrong was convicted of first-degree murder in November 2023, stemming from the May 2022 killing of cyclist Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson. Fueled by jealousy over Wilson and her on-again-off-again boyfriend Colin Strickland, Armstrong tracked Wilson and fatally shot her after Strickland lied about their interactions.
Following the murder, Armstrong fled to Costa Rica, where she reportedly underwent extensive plastic surgery and used an alias to alter her appearance. U.S. Marshals eventually tracked her down in June 2022 using a bait job posting for a yoga instructor.
Armstrong was extradited to the U.S. and subsequently sentenced to 90 years in prison. The case gained further notoriety when she attempted to escape from jail during a medical escort in October 2023. A civil lawsuit filed by Wilson's parents in May 2024 resulted in a $15 million judgment against Armstrong.
