Kai Cenat Sued Over "Heatstroke" Audition
20 Jul
Summary
- Lawsuit alleges unsafe conditions caused heatstroke-like symptoms.
- Organizer accused of filming attendees without consent.
- Suit seeks $330,000 plus punitive damages for alleged harm.

A federal lawsuit has been filed seeking $330,000 against Kai Cenat LLC and Night Media, Inc. The complaint stems from an in-person audition event for the 2026 edition of "Streamer University" held on June 12 in Manhattan.
Plaintiff Caleb Gottfried alleges that unsafe conditions at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice venue led to two near heatstroke episodes. He claims the enclosed area had inadequate ventilation and crowd management, despite the presence of NYPD officers.
Furthermore, Gottfried asserts that organizers filmed him without obtaining consent or a model release. His likeness was allegedly used as unpaid "background talent" in promotional materials, aiming to portray the gathering as crowded and energetic.
The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, also requests punitive damages and litigation costs. Kai Cenat LLC is expected to respond to the complaint by August 6, 2026.
