In Kadapa district, a heinous crime unfolded when a 19-year-old man allegedly murdered a minor girl, aged 16, by slitting her throat. The tragic event took place in Agraharam, Khazipet mandal, on Friday.
The accused, Venkatesh, a resident of Anjaneya Kottala village, had reportedly been persistently harassing the girl to marry him. Despite her clear stance that she would only marry according to her parents' wishes, Venkatesh allegedly barged into her home while her parents were absent.
An altercation ensued over the marriage proposal, escalating to the point where Venkatesh used a knife to inflict a fatal wound on the girl's throat. She succumbed to excessive bleeding despite neighbours rushing her to a hospital. Police swiftly arrested Venkatesh as he attempted to flee.
The incident has led to significant public outcry, with the victim's family and various women's organizations staging protests in Khazipet, demanding swift justice and stringent punishment for the perpetrator.
