A woman in Bengaluru has detailed a harrowing experience on Deepavali night, October 21, 2025, alleging a cab driver attempted to sexually assault her. She claims the driver stopped the vehicle under the pretense of a technical issue and then entered the back seat, restraining her. She managed to escape the vehicle and was aided by passersby before reaching home.
Following the incident, she immediately filed a police complaint and provided her statement in court on November 11, 2025. However, she expressed distress over the perceived lack of updates from the police regarding her case, highlighting the significant psychological toll and ongoing fear the event has caused.
Authorities from the North West Division DCP stated that an FIR was registered on the complaint's filing day and that the investigation is in its final stages, with a chargesheet anticipated soon. The DCP also noted the driver had initially filed a complaint regarding an altercation with the passenger on the same night.
