A Mexican sports journalist, Fernando Vargas of Activo Deportes, experienced a terrifying carjacking incident while broadcasting live on Tuesday. The event occurred at a gas station in Morelos as Vargas was conducting a segment for the show "Bla, bla, bla Deportivo." During the live hit, an armed individual approached Vargas' vehicle, cocked a gun, and demanded his keys, phone, and wallet.
Vargas, who also serves as the communications director for Mexico's Professional Basketball League (LNBP), remained calm and surrendered his possessions. He exited the car without physical harm but was reportedly very shaken by the ordeal. His co-host, Ed Martinez, expressed relief for Vargas' safety on social media and urged the public to help identify the suspect.
The LNBP released a statement on Wednesday, confirming Vargas' well-being and commending his professionalism. The league strongly condemned any acts of violence against its employees. At the time of reporting, no arrests had been made in connection with the robbery, which involved the theft of Vargas' wallet, phone, and other personal items.
