Authorities identified the accused as Omprakash Jat and the victim as his mother, Parmudi Devi. It is alleged that Omprakash first assaulted his mother before using a rope to strangle her. The two were alone in the house at the time of the incident. The crime came to light when Omprakash's son, Surendra, returned home and discovered the grim scene.
Surendra gained entry to the locked house through a neighboring terrace and found his grandmother deceased on a cot, with his father lying on another cot nearby. The accused reportedly confessed to the crime when police arrived at the scene.
