Police in Bhubaneswar have arrested Sachin Kumar, 22, for orchestrating a job scam. Kumar allegedly hired another man, Anuj Sharma alias Singh, to take an examination and skill test on his behalf for a Lower Division Clerk position at the Institute of Hotel Management. Sharma secured the highest marks, leading to an appointment for Kumar. Doubts about the integrity of the exam arose following a news report, prompting an investigation by Sahid Nagar police. Verification of CCTV footage, attendance records, and application forms confirmed that the person who took the exam was different from the one who reported for duty. Kumar confessed to the scheme, revealing an agreement to pay Sharma between Rs 7 to 8 lakh upon securing the job. The investigation also uncovered the involvement of his uncle, Sumer Singh, and cousin, Navneet Singh, in the conspiracy. Kumar has been remanded in judicial custody after his bail plea was denied.
