In a significant operation, the West Singhbhum police in Jharkhand have arrested two individuals believed to be associated with the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit. The apprehension occurred on Tuesday in the Manoharpur police station limits, with the suspects being remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday.
Acting on a credible tip-off, a police team led by SDPO Manoharpur, Jaydeep Tigga, intercepted the suspects in Nandpur village. The duo attempted to evade capture by fleeing, but were apprehended after a pursuit. A search revealed a Maoist handbill in the possession of one of the arrested individuals.
The arrested have been identified as Durjan Jate, aged 29, and Vimal Nag, aged 22, both residents of Goilkera police station area. Further detailed interrogation is planned by the authorities to ascertain their full antecedents and potential links to the Maoist network.
