In Jhansi, Anita Chaudhary, a pioneering woman autorickshaw driver, was discovered deceased from a gunshot injury. She had been driving autorickshaws since 2021 to support her family, often working night shifts. Police have registered a murder case and arrested two individuals, identifying a third suspect who is currently absconding. A reward of Rs 25,000 has been announced for information leading to his capture.
Authorities have revealed that the accused and the victim knew each other for several years and were previously married. The suspect allegedly targeted Chaudhary due to an inability to accept their separation, believing he had been betrayed. Investigations indicate he may have chosen the night of their wedding anniversary to commit the crime.
The investigation culminated in a police encounter where the absconding suspect opened fire on officers and was subsequently injured and apprehended. A pistol and cartridges were recovered from him. Further investigation into the motive and circumstances surrounding Chaudhary's death is ongoing.
