In a tragic turn of events on Thursday, a 16-year-old student in Jhansi died by suicide following an alleged molestation incident. The student, a ninth-grader, was reportedly alone at her home on Wednesday afternoon when a 22-year-old neighbor allegedly barged in and molested her.
The victim's younger brother, who was playing outside, reportedly raised an alarm, causing the accused to flee the scene. A complaint was filed at the Moth police station on Wednesday evening based on the victim's statement.
Sadly, the student, who had fallen into depression, consumed a poisonous substance on Thursday afternoon and passed away. The CO of Moth, Ajay Shrotiya, stated that the accused has been arrested and further investigations are underway. He also mentioned that POCSO sections were not initially included as the victim's age was not disclosed when the first complaint was lodged, but these will be added based on the ongoing investigation.
