Summary
- Husband stabbed wife twice after discovering new lover.
- He asked police how many years he would get.
- Judge stated his actions were motivated by jealousy.

Businessman Gavin Shaw, 61, received a life sentence with a minimum of 15 years for murdering his estranged wife, Michele Kennedy, 55. The fatal attack occurred in October 2025, shortly after Ms. Kennedy began a new relationship following their separation in summer 2025. Shaw discovered she had spent a weekend with a new partner met during a holiday in Turkey.
Ring doorbell footage captured Shaw entering the couple's former marital home in Warrington, Cheshire, and Ms. Kennedy emerging wounded less than three minutes later. She was stabbed twice in the stomach with a kitchen knife. Shaw was observed lighting a cigarette and sitting in the garden as bystanders attempted to help.
During his arrest, Shaw made callous remarks about his wife's infidelity and asked officers about his potential prison sentence. Judge Brian Cummings KC stated Shaw's actions were motivated by jealousy and resentment, rejecting any claim of remorse. Ms. Kennedy's mother expressed her heartbreak, noting her daughter was finally turning her life around.
