The ED's inquiry centers on promotional payments made to Jayasurya and his wife, Saritha, for their endorsement of the Save Box App, an online auction platform launched in 2019. Jayasurya was reportedly offered Rs 2 crore to serve as the brand ambassador and had received approximately Rs 1 crore. Investigations suggest these funds originated from entities associated with Swadiq Rahim, the principal accused in the fraud case.
Jayasurya asserted his position as a responsible citizen who conducts all financial dealings legally and pays taxes accurately. He questioned the media's ethics in spreading unverified claims and expressed disappointment, stating he felt pity for the media's alleged stooping to such levels. The Save Box App fraud case itself came to public attention in 2023.
