James May Settles Motorcycle Insurance Case
26 Mar
Summary
- James May faced trial over motorcycle insurance non-compliance.
- The case involved a 50-year-old orange Suzuki motorcycle.
- The settlement was reached out of court before the trial.

James May, a former presenter of Top Gear, has resolved a legal matter concerning his motorcycle insurance status. He had been prosecuted by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) over an allegation related to his vintage orange Suzuki motorcycle.
The charge stated that on July 17 of last year, Mr. May retained a vehicle, specifically a Suzuki GT750 motorcycle, which failed to meet insurance prerequisites. The Grand Tour star, aged 63, was scheduled to appear at Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court.
However, prosecutors announced that the case was settled out of court, thus avoiding a full trial. Mr. May hosted Top Gear alongside Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond for many years, from 2003 until 2015.
