Handy was discovered in the front yard of the home with a stab wound to his chest. Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Gledhill reportedly approached responding officers and identified himself as the person they sought.
Law enforcement officials have stated that the stabbing is considered an isolated event and there is no current indication of public threat. Bail for Gledhill has been set at $2,000,000.
