IVF Clinic Mix-Up: Couple Gets Wrong Embryos
19 Feb
Summary
- Couple sues fertility clinic after birth of genetically unrelated child.
- Genetic testing confirmed the baby girl was not the couple's biological child.
- Judge orders weekly hearings amid allegations of swapped IVF embryos.

A judge has mandated weekly hearings in a case where a Florida couple claims an IVF clinic provided them with the wrong embryos. Tiffany Score and Steven Mills filed a lawsuit against the Fertility Center of Orlando after Score gave birth to a baby girl on December 11, 2025, who was clearly not related to them. Both parents are Caucasian, while the baby appeared to be of a different ethnicity.
Subsequent genetic testing confirmed the baby was not biologically theirs, prompting the couple to seek the identity of the child's biological parents and information about their own embryos. The situation escalated when another patient, who had an embryo transfer on April 7, 2025, contacted the couple, suggesting a possible mix-up.
The Fertility Center of Orlando stated it is cooperating with an investigation to support its patients and determine where the error occurred. Judge Margaret Schreiber ordered the weekly status hearings and directed the clinic to certify patient contact and confidentiality waivers. The clinic has promised cooperation, which the couple hopes will be fulfilled.
