In Itaunja, police on Saturday, March 8, 2026, apprehended two more individuals implicated in a February 23rd abduction and assault incident. These arrests bring the total number of suspects detained to five. The crime reportedly originated from a protracted dispute concerning property and mud mining activities in the Sitapur district.
The incident involved an alleged ramming of a motorcycle by an SUV, followed by an assault on its riders, Alok Singh and Shanu Pandey. Alok Singh was subsequently abducted and threatened. Authorities had previously rescued Alok Singh and arrested three other suspects, who were then remanded to judicial custody.
