Slam Dunk Champ Rider Back in Custody in Arizona

Former NBA player Isaiah Rider was taken into custody on Thursday and booked Friday morning for failing to comply with a court order. The misdemeanor offense, which resulted in a guilty finding, means the former Slam Dunk champion is expected to remain in custody until Tuesday.

Rider's latest legal issues arise months after he was arrested twice in relation to a protective order secured by his estranged wife, Vanessa. He was previously arrested in December for allegedly violating the order, facing a charge of interfering with judicial proceedings.

Days after his initial arrest, Rider was apprehended again for missing a hearing concerning the protective order's status. A judge ultimately extended the order, while Rider had previously denied Vanessa's claims, suggesting she sought the order due to their divorce proceedings.

Rider, the 1994 Slam Dunk champion, played for five NBA teams during his career, including the Los Angeles Lakers, and was recognized for his exceptional athleticism.
